What ClickUp task manager does

Log tasks quickly with as little back-and-forth as possible. Either answer a two-screen wizard, or paste raw notes, an email, a brief or an error log and let the title and description be written from them. The list, assignees, priority and due date are picked, confirmed once, and the task is created with a short overview comment.

What you give it

Either answers to a two-screen wizard, or pasted notes, an email, a client brief or an error log to build the task from.

What you get back

  • A ClickUp task with a clean [Category] title, a description in plain or structured style, assignees, priority and due date
  • A short overview comment on the new task

Use cases

  • Turning a client email into a task

Paste the email. The task is written from it, with the client's own wording preserved when you choose the plain style.

  • Logging an error you just hit

Paste the error log and it becomes a ticket with the log formatted cleanly in the description.

  • Working across more than one ClickUp account

The workspace is discovered at run time rather than hard-coded, so the same skill works in any account without editing it.

How to use ClickUp task manager

  1. Install the productivity toolkit

    /plugin install productivity-toolkit@claude-skills

  2. Authorise the ClickUp MCP server

The skill checks the connection with one light call before doing anything else, and stops if it fails.

  3. Say "create a task" or paste your notes

You are asked once which intake mode you want: the manual wizard, or quick paste.

  4. Confirm once

Everything is shown for a single confirmation before the task is created.

Benefits

  • Titles that read in a narrow column

Format is [Category] plus a short, action-oriented description. Client code prefixes are left out because the list already says which client it is.

  • Your words, untouched

In plain style the description is your text exactly as given, with numbering, spelling and line breaks kept. When someone pastes an error log, the exact text is the point.

  • Structured when you want it

Objective, acceptance criteria, attachments and notes, laid out in Markdown.

  • No hard-coded IDs

Nothing about your workspace is baked into the skill, so it is safe to share and safe to update.

Needs
The ClickUp MCP server, authorised.
Profile
Reads ~/.claude/profiles/clickup-task-manager.md (optional). It asks for the details the first time and offers to save them there, so later runs ask nothing.

Questions about clickup-task-manager

Do I have to configure my workspace IDs?
No. The skill discovers the workspace at run time. An optional profile can set defaults such as your usual list, your category prefixes and your teammates, purely to save questions.

Need this built, not just automated?

I build WordPress and Next.js sites for a living, and these skills are the toolkit behind that work. If you would rather hand the job over, get in touch.
