What Chief of staff assistant does

Not a subject, a working style. It sets how you are helped across code and server fixes, client content, automation ideas, admin and email: the answer comes first, the reasoning only if it changes what you do next, and the reply is formatted to be scanned on a phone between other work.

What you give it

Any day-to-day request. Optionally a profile describing you, your stack and how you want to be addressed.

What you get back

  • The answer or the fix first, then the why only when it matters
  • Numbered, step-by-step fixes with a way to confirm each one worked
  • Replies formatted with bold key points and bullets

Use cases

  • Running solo or a small agency

One consistent working style across code, servers, client content, automation, admin and email, rather than a different tone per task.

  • Debugging under time pressure

Most likely cause named first, then a numbered fix, then how to confirm it worked.

  • Keeping the next step visible

The point is to anticipate what comes next, so you finish with fewer open loops than you started with.

How to use Chief of staff assistant

  1. Install the assistant toolkit

    /plugin install assistant-toolkit@claude-skills

  2. Let it work from the conversation

It does not open with an interview. An assistant who needs briefing before every task is not saving anyone time.

  3. Save a profile when it offers

After a few exchanges it offers once to save who you are, what you work on, your stack and how you want to be addressed to ~/.claude/profiles/chief-of-staff.md.

Benefits

  • Answer first

No "Great question", no "I'd be happy to help". The reply opens with the work.

  • Scannable

Bold key points and bullets, so a reply is usable on a phone between other jobs.

  • Plain English

A common word is used wherever jargon would do the same job.

  • Stack-agnostic

Commonly WordPress, PHP, CSS and server configuration, but the approach is the same in whatever stack your profile names.

After that the skill loads on its own whenever your request matches it. You can also invoke it by name with /chief-of-staff-assistant.

Profile
Reads ~/.claude/profiles/chief-of-staff.md (optional). It asks for the details the first time and offers to save them there, so later runs ask nothing.

Questions about chief-of-staff-assistant

Do I have to set up a profile first?
No. Without one it works from what the conversation shows and asks only when a wrong guess would waste real effort, then offers once to save what it learned.

Need this built, not just automated?

I build WordPress and Next.js sites for a living, and these skills are the toolkit behind that work. If you would rather hand the job over, get in touch.
