What Build a Next.js website does
A step-by-step wizard asks for the business name, logo, fonts, a reference site, the business itself, then your section and page preferences. It confirms a plan, and only then builds. Nothing is created until you approve what it is about to make.
What you give it
Answers to a six-step wizard, and optionally a reference site URL to take the look and feel from.
What you get back
- A Next.js App Router project in TypeScript with SEO, Open Graph and Twitter cards, structured data, sitemap, accessibility and performance in place
- A theme system that can take any look
- Content in src/content/*.ts with every gap marked TODO and listed at the end
- docs/site-brief.md recording every confirmed answer
Use cases
Starting a client site from nothing
The wizard replaces a long kickoff questionnaire, one short screen at a time with recommended defaults you can accept in a click.
Rebuilding an old site
Point at the current site as the reference and get a modern, SEO-ready structure to move into.
A static marketing site
No database, no backend, no API routes. All content lives in files, which keeps hosting simple and the site fast.
How to use Build a Next.js website
Install the Next.js toolkit
/plugin install nextjs-toolkit@claude-skills
Say "build me a new website"
Describing the business is enough; it also triggers when you ask what the site should contain.
Work through the wizard
Each screen is numbered, short, and offers "Skip / decide later" and "Use defaults". Your answers are summarised for one confirmation at the end.
Approve the plan
No files are written until the plan is approved, and the work happens on a branch, not main.
Benefits
SEO is not an afterthought
Metadata, Open Graph, Twitter cards, structured data and the sitemap are part of the scaffold rather than a later ticket.
Never invents content
No fake projects, reviews, numbers, team members or prices. Missing content is a clearly marked TODO, and every TODO is listed at the end.
Reads the installed Next docs
It reads the docs bundled with your installed Next version before using an API, instead of working from a version it half-remembers.
Plain English on the page
Visible copy avoids jargon and tool names. Technical words stay in the code and the metadata.

Questions about build-nextjs-website
- Will it push or deploy anything?
- No. It works on a branch and does not push, merge or deploy without your explicit go-ahead.
- Can it add a database or a contact form backend?
- Not by default. It builds a static site, and form sections are left as empty containers for you to drop a third-party embed into.
