Overview
When you manage many websites, it helps to have a public, dated record of how each site looked over time. I built an n8n workflow that sends every website to Archive.org's Wayback Machine on a monthly schedule.
The challenge
Saving dozens of websites to Archive.org by hand every month is slow and easy to forget. Some saves fail or time out, and there was no simple way to see which sites were archived and which weren't.
What I built
- A monthly schedule that runs automatically, plus a webhook so it can be triggered on demand from a dashboard
- Each website is submitted to the Wayback Machine one by one, with checks for failed or slow saves
- Clear workflow sections and notes inside n8n, so the automation is easy to maintain
The result
Every website now gets a fresh Archive.org snapshot each month without anyone having to remember to do it.
